JoAnne Kleb entered the field of communications after completing a diploma in Public Relations at Mount Royal College and a degree in Communications Studies at the University of Calgary.
She has over seven years of experience working in the areas of community relations, employee communications, high-tech/multimedia, investor relations, media relations, management/leadership communications and corporate communications.
JoAnne has experience working with both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations including Suncor Energy, TransCanada Pipelines, Deloitte & Touche, University of Calgary and Calgary Technologies Inc. While consulting for these organizations, JoAnne researched and conceived multi-audience communications strategies, executed media relations plans, developed web sites, and wrote and produced promotional materials.
While with Suncor, JoAnne organized and executed the media relations plan for the launch of a $180 million facility. Her responsibilities included writing and issuing the news release, preparing the media kit, facilitating media inquiries, and managing on-site media interviews with senior members of the Alberta Government and Suncor Energy. The project received nation-wide television and print coverage.
In the area of diversity, she has written an Aboriginal Affairs Policy for an energy company and facilitated donations and events in Aboriginal communities in Western Canada.
JoAnne has also developed and implemented strategies to support organizational restructuring and downsizing. She wrote and produced a public disclosure document and educational video to launch a $450 million growth initiative.
In the area of technology, JoAnne has chaired a web council leading to the development of an intranet and has created several web sites and multimedia presentations.
JoAnne has been the editor and writer of several newsletters and community reports. Her profiles of local athletes have been featured in Calgary sporting publications. She has also written speeches for executives and volunteered as the editor of the annual report for a local non-profit organization.
