JoAnne Kleb
JoAnne Kleb entered the field of communications after completing a degree in Communications Studies at the University of Calgary and a diploma in Public Relations at Mount Royal College. She has over twelve years of experience working in the areas of community relations, employee communications, web/multimedia, investor relations, media relations, management/leadership communications and corporate communications. JoAnne has consulted with Valhalla for eight years.
JoAnne has worked in a variety of industries including oil and gas, construction, education, government and non-profit. Her diverse client list features Suncor Energy, Pembina Pipelines, Graham Construction, TransCanada Pipelines, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, The City of Calgary, University of Calgary and Duke Energy.
While consulting for these organizations, JoAnne conducted stakeholder research, developed employee and community-focused strategies, managed special events and created an extensive range of communication tools including media releases, print and radio advertisements, newsletters, websites, reports, brochures, displays, speeches and presentations.
In 2006, JoAnne and colleague Glenna Cross were awarded an IABC Gold Quill Award of Excellence in the Category of Sustainable Development for their work on The City of Calgary’s Residential Recycling Pilot Project.
Other highlights of her career include:
- Planned, executed and managed VIP and community events to open two Suncor/Enbridge wind power projects. Both events involved liaising with community leaders, project partners, company executives and provincial government representatives.
- Co-project manager for several editions of Suncor Energy's award-winning Report on Sustainability.
- Prepared content and managed production of communication materials for the rollout of a new management system for Petro-Canada’s Finance Unit. Materials included strategy maps, speaking notes, presentations and a video. Survey results showed excellent comprehension.

The creative and inspired energy of Arcand’s work comes from a compilation of personal and professional experiences. She completed the Bachelor of Arts degree program in Criminology at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia and fully embraced her career within the Canadian criminal justice system for nearly 20 years. The unique and wide-ranging experiences allowed her to hone her investigative and interviewing skills while developing an ability to relate to private, public and governmental agencies.
Arcand is also an experienced traveler which has heightened her awareness of international and national protocol. Areas of travel include Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe, Caribbean and North America.
